Preparing to replace the IO chassis of K1TEST0 with a new IO chassis

[Oshino-san, YamaT-san, Ikeda]

Summary
Several problems involving IO chassis have been reported. (K-Log#33348,#16759)
The old IO chassis's use HIB cards, but there are no replacement cards in stock.
Therefore, replacement with a new IO chassis is mandatory for the future.
The DGS has confirmed that a configuration equivalent to K1TEST0 will run for a long time on the test bench.
First, we will replace K1TEST0 with the new IO chassis to investigate the impact on KAGRA.

Details
We prepared to replace the IO chassis of K1TEST0 with a new IO chassis(S2416128).

The DC cables we have on hand have different terminal configurations, so we returned to the old IO chassis.
The placement within the rack is tentative.
K1TEST0 and the old I/O chassis have been moved slightly upward within the rack.

The BIOS of K1TEST0(V3) was Version 3.1.
The test bench results confirm that 3.1 recognizes four Adnaco cards.
With 1.0, only one card was recognized.

We plan to replace it with a new IO chassis next week.

Continuation from K-Log #33560

Summary

We replaced the IO chassis of K1TEST0 with a new IO chassis.

Procedure

1. Turned off the power to both the PC and the IO chassis.
2. Transferred the cards from the old IO chassis to the new IO chassis.
The two ADC cards were installed in the new IO chassis in the same order to maintain their recognition sequence:
  S1402721
  S1402739
3. Removed unnecessary cards from the PC and installed the Adnaco card.
The HIB card and Dolphin card, which were previously installed in K1TEST0, were no longer needed and were removed.
They were stored in the storage case in the computer room.
  HIB card: S/N QS13491186
Rust-like marks are visible on terminals.
  Dolphin card: AD014513014
4. Connected the IO chassis to the DC power supply. The power supply was set to 24V (current limit: 9.5A).
5. Powered on both the IO chassis and the PC.
6. Confirmed that both ADC cards were detected using dmesg and verified there were no errors in medm.

Rack Layout

This is just a memo for future maintenance works.

k1test0 is dolphin free front-end. So we though we don't need to request all safe for the maintenance of k1test0. And actually, we kept PMC/IMC lock during today's maintenance. But IMC guardian now depends on some EPICS channels defined on k1test0. As a result, IMC guardian raised "Ezca connection error" during the maintenance. If we will do just restarting model (this means that down time is short), it might be acceptable. On the other hand, when the maintenance takes long time, we should request at least IMC_DOWN.

Memo 2

According to the latest model files (I updated web viewer), only 1 ADC board is used by models on k1test0. Actually no instrument is now connected to this ADC (At least 1 ADC board is necessary to launch real-time model). Though there is a plan to use an ADC board on k1test0 as voltage monitors of DC power supplies, 1 ADC board (32 channels) should be enough. So we can remove the 2nd ADC board from k1test0. It's not urgent. If there is a lack of equipment on the test bench, it becomes candidate to use on other places.
