Installation of side stoppers for MCe

[Hirata, Washimi]

This morning, we installed the side stoppers for the MCe suspensions.

  1. Fixed the mirror with the lower stoppers (HR/AR surface).
  2. Removed the current top stopper plate and adapter blocks.
  3. Installed the new adapter between the frames and the stopper plate.
  4. Attached the side guide plates. (Fig.1)
  5. Assembled the new stopper plate. The stoppers were set vertically. (Fig.2)
  6. Inserted the new stopper plate to the upper position of the guide.
  7. Rotated the stoppers to the 45° angle. (Fig.3)
  8. Moved down the stopper plate to the lower position of the guide.
  9. Adjusted the height of the stoppers.
  10. Removed the guide plate. (Fig.4)
  11. Released the mirror and adjusted the gaps of all stoppers to ~2mm.

These works were finished (within ~1h), but after that, the oplev beam was moved a lot in the yaw.

We tried to align the mirror with Takahashi-san and Ikeda-san, but during this work, one magnet (upper right viewed from the HR side) was fallen. (Fig.5)
Details will be reported later as another log entry.

(Log on 19th)

[Takahashi, Hirata, Washimi, Ikeda]

We recovered the fallen magnet.

First, we aligned the mirror. The yaw pico-motor was set around the mid-point. Then the Oplev spot was far from the QPD. We twisted the mirror in yaw pushing the mirror by the stoppers to the HR direction. After the alignment, we fixed the mirror with the stoppers. We attached the new magnet to the mirror with the gluing jig.

Today's work at MCE:

  1. Visual inspection for the EQ stoppers, Coil & Magnets -> look fine, all magnets look to be almost centered in each coil bobbin
  2. Released the gluing jig for a magnet -> OK
  3. Released the HR/AR surface EQ stoppers -> no one was touched, but the magnets moved in a yaw direction in each coil bobbin
  4. Checked & center the oplev
  5. Brought closer the old-lower side-stoppers
  6. Brought closer the new-upper side-stoppers
  7. Brought closer the HR/AR surface EQ stoppers
  8. Checked the oplev -> gone out of the QPD
  9. Checked the EQ stoppers -> The HR/AR surface stoppers might be touched on the mirror -> Brought farther the HR/AR surface EQ stoppers
  10. Checked the oplev ->OK
  11. Suspension health check -> OK
  12. IMC alignment (klog28912)
