Detaching stray light shield plates off MCi and MCo

R. Takahashi, D. Chen, Washimi, Akutsu

Summary

As reported in 28320 and 28321, to repair the MCi and MCo suspensions, stray light shield plates should be detached to gain accessibility. So, we detached some of them off the suspension structures. The detached plates are now located on the IMC_REFL optical table to be stocked safety (Fig. 1). Please never come close to them (please avoid letting anything be above them), as the surfaces of the shield plates are quite fragile.

Details

The situatoin prior to today's works is shown in Fig. 2.

For MCi, only one shield plate (in the +Y direction) needs to be removed. Firstly six out of eight screws were detached, and then grabbing outer area of the plate (Fig. 3), I removed the remaining two screws. Then we put 4 studs bolts to support the detached plate (Fig. 4), where the side facing us was facing in +Y direction. Then this was brought onto the IMC_REFL optical table. Those dedicated screws (blackened) were also packed with aluminum foils and set aside next to the plate.

For MCo, two shield plates (in the +Y and +X directions) need to be removed. In the same manner as of MCi, they were detached (Figs. 5 and 6) and stocked on the IMC_REFL table as well. Fig. 5 is for +Y direction, and the side facing us was facing in +Y direction. Fig. 6 is for +X direction, and the side facing us was facing in +X direction.
