Recovery of MCo suspension

[Takahashi, Dan, Washimi, Akutsu]

We investigated the condition of the MCe suspension.

  • TM: Two magnets fell off. One magnet at right-down from Y- was found in the coil bobbin. The other magnet at left-up from Y- was found in the outside of the coil bobbin.  One EQ stopper at X+bottom was touching the TM.
  • IM: The damping magnets at X+ and Y+ were touching the IM body.
  • Top stage: The yaw stage with the pico-motor reached the actuation limit at X+.

We need to remove the baffles to adjust the EQ stoppers and to glue the magnets.

We started the recovery of the MCe suspension (not MCo).

  • We removed not only fallen magnets but also survived magnets from the TM. The polarity of one magnet at left-up was N and the others were S.
  • We released the IM from the touching damping magnets. The yaw stage with the pico-motor reached the actuation limit at X+, when the TM was aligned to the Oplev center.
  • The suspension wires for the TM were in the groove of the standoffs.
  • The TM looks rotated in CCW from Y+ referred to a horizontal line of the laser leveler.
  • The line reflected by the TM deviated by 13cm from the origin of the vertical line from the laser leveler which was set on the MCF-MCE center line at a distance of 1.23m from the center of MCE. This deviation corresponds to the yaw rotation of ~0.1rad in CW. It is too large. The line would be reflected from the AR surface.

[Takahashi, Ikeda, Washimi, Akutsu]

We continued the recovery of the MCe suspension (not MCo).

  1. We set the laser leveler on the MCF-MCE center line again. We aligned the TM so that the reflected line could come back to the origin until the actuation X- limit of the yaw stage with the pico-motor.
  2. We checked the IR beam position on the TM. It was almost centered. The reflected beam from the TM was deviated by several cm to X+ at the DN1000 flange (photo).
  3. We tried to align the TM looking at the reflected beam spot. When the spot was aligned to the MCo, the yaw stage reached the actuation X+ limit. Then the beam spot of the Oplev was deviated by ~1cm from the QPD center in CCW. The IM was not touching the damping magnets.

[Washimi, Dan, Takahashi]

We continued the recovery of the MCe suspension (not MCo).

We checked the side of the IM body lifting the magnet box (IRM). The wire ends to suspend the IM were not projecting out of the body. After the IRM was recovered, we aligned the TM to the Oplev center again. The yaw stage with the pico-motor was around the middle when the Oplev beam was centered in the QPD. The relative position of the TM and IM to the suspension frame looked fine. Has something gotten jammed in the IRM?

[RTakahashi, Dan, Washimi]

At the beginning of today's work, we checked the alignment of the IMC mirrors with the main IR beam.

After releasing the earthquake stoppers for the MCo mirror, the beam returned from the MCe on the MCi without any adjusting.

We went to the gluing of the magnets for the MCe mirror.

  1. Fixed the TM with the EQ stoppers.
  2. Adjusted the positions of the coil bobbins to be centered on the seal of the last gluing.
  3. Set the new magnets (1.65mm in diameter) to the gluing jig so that the polarity can be consistent with the removed magnet.
  4. Mounted the adessive (TRA-BOND 2116) on the magnet end.
  5. Inserted each gluing jig into the coil bobbin from the back side until the magnet end touched the TM.
  6. Four magnets were attached to the TM.
