Replacement of the Q-mass for the IXC

[Kimura and Yasui]
On March 13, we replaced the Q-mass for the IXC, whose filament had broken. (Photo 1)
As part of this replacement, we added a pressure gauge and a valve. (Phpoto 2)
After the replacement, we conducted a vacuum leak test, and the leak rate was found to be 1×10⁻¹² Pa·m³/s or less. (Photo 3)
Following the leak test, we are continuing to pump down the Q-mass connection piping.
We plan to open the valve between the Q-mass and the IXC on or after March 16 to connect the Q-mass to the IXC.

[Kimura and Yasui]

At around 10:00 a.m. on March 17, we stopped the vacuum pumping in the Q-mass piping, opened the cryostat-side GV, and connected the Q-mass.
The pressure inside the piping before opening the cryostat-side GV was 1.8×10⁻⁴ Pa, and after opening the GV, it was 4.4×10⁻⁵ Pa.
We then installed an analysis unit on the Q-mass piping. The final pressure inside the piping was 3.5 × 10⁻⁵ Pa.
We then removed the vacuum pumping unit from the piping.
