Remove the beam duct between the MCE chamber and the optical table
2026/09/18
Ushiba, Uchiyama

We successfully removed the beam duct between the MCE chamber and the optical table. (Fig. 1)

Procedure
1: Loosen the two bottom-side screws attaching the MCE flange. (Fig. 2)
2: Loosen the eight screws connecting the beam duct and the holder. (Fig. 3)
3: Slide the beam duct from the MCE flange. (Fig. 4)
4: Remove the eight screws connecting the holder and the black optical table cover. (Fig. 4)
Finally, we can remove the beam duct. The removed screws are kept in a bag. We kept the removed beam duct and screws on a metal shelf in the MCE booth. (Fig. 5)

After this, we turned on the FFU for the optical table cover. Since we found that the FFU affected IMC LSC and the IMC lock could not remain stable, we turned off the FFU.
