Inspection Results of Cooling Water for Xarm Vacuum Pumps

[ Kimura andYasui ]

We inspected the amount of cooling water retained for the vacuum pumps of Xarm and Xend.
The results are shown below.
#33 pump unit: 50 %
X-27 pump unit: 100 %
X-21 pump unit: 100 %
X-15 pump unit: 50 %
X-10 pump unit: 70 %

From the above, we confirmed that the #33 and X-15 pump units need to be refilled with cooling water.
We will continue to inspect the amount of cooling water retained for the vacuum pumps in Yarm and Yend.

[ Kimura and Yasui ]

We inspected the amount of cooling water retained for the vacuum pumps of Xarm from 10:32 to 11:06.
The results are shown below.
X-27 pump unit: 50 %
X-21 pump unit: 100 %
X-15 pump unit: 50 %
X-10 pump unit: 60 %

From the above, we confirmed that the X-27,  X-15 and X-10 pump units need to be refilled with cooling water.
We will try to refill the water on 18 August.

[Kimura and Yasui]
We refilled the cooling water chiller of X-27 with water.
 (See atached photos)
During the refilling process, a blockage was found in part of the water piping. Although replacement of the piping is necessary, we temporarily restarted the chiller and TMP.
Tomorrow (August 19), we will replace the parts and restart the chiller.
During a regular inspection, it was confirmed that the water level in the cooling water chiller installed between EXC and EXA was around 10%.
After repairing and restarting X-27, we will refill this chiller with water and inspect the piping.

We performed maintenance on the cooling water chiller of the vacuum pump installed on the X-arm.
First, we inspected the cooling water chiller of the #33 vacuum pump, which had a water level of 10% in the cooling water tank, and found a leak.
The cause of the leak was that the backup ling used for the joint was not installed.
We installed a new backup ling, connected the piping, and refilled the cooling water tank with cooling water.
(See attached photos 1~4)

Subsequently, abnormal noise was detected from the cooling water chiller of X-27.
Upon inspecting the chiller, the abnormal noise was estimated to be caused by the water pump inside the chiller.
Since replacing the water pump would take time, the cooling method for TMP was switched from water cooling to air cooling.
(See attached photos 5)

The X-27 cooling water chiller will be recovered, and the pump will be replaced.
Due to the time required for these maintenance operations, the replenishment of the remaining cooling water chillers was postponed until 20 August.
For the above operations, the arm gate valve GVex was closed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

[Kimura, Yasui, M.Takahashi and H.Sawada]
We performed maintenance on the cooling water chiller for the X-arm vacuum pump, which we were unable to do yesterday, and refilled the cooling water.
The cooling water chillers that were maintained are located at three locations: #32, X-15, and X-10.
The X-10 cooling water chiller was refilled with 3.5 liters of water on April 25, 2025. k-log 33554
This corresponds to a reduction of 2 liters of cooling water in the approximately four months between the refill and today.
It is estimated that a small leak, too small to be detected by visual inspection, has occurred at the pipe connection.
Continued monitoring of the X-10 cooling water chiller is necessary.
During the above work, the arm gate valves (GVix and GVex) were closed. The gate valves were closed from 9:40 a.m. to 11:41 a.m.

[Kimura, Yasui]

We added water because the water level in the X-15's cooling water chiller had dropped.
We searched for the source of the leak but could not find it.
Therefore, we are currently monitoring the water level in the tank with the casing removed.
