XPcal calibration

With Nagisa Sembo

We performed the integrating sphere calibration for Pcal-X.
The results were intended to be included as a PDF attachment; however, the file generation failed due to a missing program update. This issue is not critical and will be resolved soon. We plan to upload the PDF tomorrow.

The relevant online parameters were updated twice today — the first update was made in error, and the second update reflects the correct values.

Updated EPICS Channel Values (rounded to four significant figures):

Notes:

  • The parameters were initially updated with incorrect values and subsequently corrected later on the same day.
  • Prior to this Pcal-X calibration, we performed Pcal beam position estimation and main IR laser beam position estimation using Tcam for both Pcal-X and Pcal-Y. The results of these estimations have been reflected in the corresponding online parameters.
  • There were no significant changes in the RxPD or TxPD values.

Correction to Previously Reported Calibration Values

We performed the integrating sphere calibration for Pcal-X on 2025/05/29. In our this previous klog, we mistakenly included a table showing the previous calibration values instead of the new results obtained during the latest measurement.

The actual online EPICS channel values were correctly updated at 2025/05/29 17:46:02 JST, and the error was only in the klog entry, not in the implementation.

Below is the corrected list of updated EPICS channel values (rounded to four significant digits):

EPICS Key Before After

After fixing the analysis script as reported in klog33991, I ran IS_add_plot.py to generate the report PDF.
The resulting file is attached.

I have also attached the measured calibration factors for Rx, Tx1, and Tx2 from last December, which were used for the online parameter update on May 29.

There were no significant changes observed in the integrating sphere values.

Tcam Main IR Beam Position Check

I reviewed the main IR beam positions captured by the Tcam system for both PcalY and PcalX.

  • PcalY
    - Compared TCam_ETMY_00111_2025_0529_070437_lines.png and TCam_ETMY_10111_2025_0526_170816_Gaus_fit_RGB.png.
    - The current input value and the inferred IR beam position on the test mass (TM) are consistent with respect to the sign or direction of the beam’s position vector.
  • PcalX
    - Compared TCam_ETMX_00111_2025_0529_052125_lines.png and TCam_ETMX_10110_2025_0527_062629_Gaus_fit_RGB.png. (Attached: one shows TM position and the other one shows estimated main IR beam position(RGB).)
    - The inferred main IR beam position is located to the left of the test mass (TM) center in the image.
    - In the case of Tcam-EX, this means the IR beam is in the -y direction of the MIF, i.e., in the positive-x region on the HR surface.
    - Therefore, the sign of the parameter must be corrected:
    K1:CAL-PCAL_EX_TCAM_MAIN_X: -3.570 → +3.570
    - To avoid inconsistency with SDF management, I have not yet updated the parameter in the online system.
    - The correction should be applied before today's CAL measurement.
  • This issue arose from confusion in the horizontal direction of the main IR beam position.
    - The left-right orientation is flipped between Tcam-EX and Tcam-EY.
    - On May 29th, the correction was accidentally applied twice when entering the values.
    - This time, I confirmed that the horizontal flipping is already handled within the script, and I double-checked the consistency by comparing raw and fitted images.

> Therefore, the sign of the parameter must be corrected: K1:CAL-PCAL_EX_TCAM_MAIN_X-3.570 → +3.570

I applied this change.
SDF clear will be done later.
