Water chiller for TMP at Y27
2025/04/23

Takahashi, Sawada, Ushiba, Uchiyama

We found that the water chiller for TMP at Y27 made a loud noise. We closed the GV between the TMP and the T-shape duct and stopped the TMP.
We checked the chiller, and no water was found. There was a water leak in the piping connection in the chiller.

After fixing the piping connection, we filled water in the chiller and restarted the TMP and the chiller.
Finally, we opened the GV between the TMP and the T-shape duct

[M. Takahashi and H. Sawada]
Attached is photo of water leak in the water  cooling unit for Y-27 TMP  provided by M. Takahashi-san.
The leak occurred at the joint where the plastic piping was inserted.
The leak was temporarily stopped by redoing the joint connection of the leaking piping.
The leakage area is believed to be the result of aging.
Other water cooling units need to be inspected as well, as aging are possible.
The leaking water cooling unit was overhauled in 2023.

[Kimura and Yasui]
A lack of cooling water was found in the chiller unit for TMP in Y-27, so the cooling water in the other chiller units was checked for water quantity.
As a result, a cooling water shortage was also found in the chiller unit for TMP of X-10.
Therefore, approximately 3.5 L of water was added to the water tank inside the chiller unit.
