Nakai-sama who is the chief electrical engineer of KAGRA reported there are crackings on the surface of the utility pole and its support near the Mozumi mine entrance on October 2nd. The utility pole is used for the KAGRA power cable and the SK power cable.
We visited there to see the situation on October 3rd.
We found
- The utility pole is curved,
- there are cracks in both the pole and support.
We will discuss with the company what we should do.

Photo1 shows the leaning of the power pole compared with other poles.
Photo2 shows the bending of the support pole for the main power pole.
Photo3 shows the tension balances. Obviously, the left side tension is stronger than the right side. Although the tension pole was added in the left side, it seems not to be enough.

Shinko-Denki performed a temporal treatment on the cracked power pole.
The work is to put the new cables on the other side of the two power cables that give tension to the power pole.
By doing so, the tension on the power pole will be relaxed.

We started work on the cracked electric pole today. The work will continue by November 26.
In this work, we will build 3 electric poles to support power cables which give tension to the power pole.
Today, 3 new electric poles arrived at Mozumi.

new electric pole(c) Pipe came out from under the concrete. It is unknown what it is used for. After discussion between Kamioka-Kogyo and Sinkodenki, it was decided to repair the pipe and backfill it. We are considering changing the location of the utility pole to the side of the road, away from the gutter.

We continued making holes for the electric poles (a) and (c).
We found something in the hole for the pole (a).
We decided on a new place for the electric pole (c) since we found the pipe in the hole.
The new place is right next to the original location.

new electric pole(a) What came out of the concrete was what looked like old gutters, and the gutters were filled in with concrete.
They will be cut and removed tomorrow to continue the work.
new electric pole(b) The ground has been backfilled, but is still loose, so soil and gravel will be added on the 20th to harden it.
new electric pole(c) A utility pole was erected at the new location.Cable covers are installed to protect overhead cables, and the cable covers are removed after erection of the columns.
