Height adjustment of ETMX

[Takahashi, Sato, Ikeda + Tomaru, Ushiba]

We startede the height adjustment of ETMX.

  1. Released the BF and cryo-payload.
  2. When the cryo-payload was relaeased, the TM height went down by 5mm.
  3. Set the height of F0 keystone to -7mm.
  4. Checked the FR range using stepper motors. Total range of kystones was +/-11.5mm.
  5. The range of F0 keystone was small. Moving range of FR with the stepper motor was smaller than moving by hand. The FR blades (F3 type + old BF type x2 at present) should be replaced to thicker ones.

We replaced the blades for F0 FR from F3 type + old BF type x2 to F3 type + F2 type.

  1. At beginning, the F2 type blade was used in the lower side. Then the shaft of FR was not rotated by hand due to the large tilt of slider.
  2. Exchanged the F2 type and F3 type. The shaft could move easily by hand.
  3. Checked the range of FR. The movable range of F0 keystone was +/- 1mm; the same as the last time. The FR was stuck at the same height.
  4. To replace the coupller for shaft from a rigid type to a flex type, took out the flex type from the F0 FR in IY.

  1. Replace the coupller for the shaft of F0 FR from a rigid type to a flex type.
  2. Checked the range of FR. The movable range of F0 keystone was +/- 1mm; the same as the last time. The FR was stuck at the same height.
  3. The height of TM was reported as -19.5mm from the beam axis by CRY.
  4. Checked the height of the IP base and top chamber. They were about 180mm and 1050mm respectively.

We jacked up the IP base by 8mm. Though the trgaet was 12mm, the piston head was too high to insert a spanner. As shown in the table, maximum range of FRs is +/-11.5mm. To compensate the present TM height (-19.5mm), it is necessary to use all of range. It is not safe. The present upper limit of F0 keystone is due to the additional FR jig. So we will try to modify the jig.

We adjusted the height of filters so as to be 0mm in TM, which was -8.5mm on May 3rd. The keystons of F1, F3, and BF were adjusted with the FRs along the table. The height change of BF (6.5mm) was confirmed by direct measurement in the cross tube.
