Investigation of IMC suspensions

[Takahashi, Sato,Horiuchi]

We investigated the IMC suspensions.

MCe

  1. Checked the centerring of actuator coils. The deviations from the center were within permissible range.
  2. Checked the gap between the IM and the magnet box (MB). The IM was not touching to the MB. The position of MB was adjusted a little.
  3. Measured the resistance and inductance of the coils.
  4. Fixed the cables from the coils with PEEK ties (picture).

MCo

  1. Checked the centerring of actuator coils. The deviations from the center were within permissible range.
  2. Checked the gap between the IM and the MB. There was enough gap.
  3. Measured the resistance and inductance of the coils.

MCi

  1. Checked the centerring of actuator coils. The deviations from the center were within permissible range.
  2. Checked the gap between the IM and the MB. The IM was not touching to the MB. The position of MB was adjusted a little.
  3. Measured the resistance and inductance of the coils.

* Photos on the centerring/gap and measured data on the resistance/inductunce will be uploaded later.

I turned on the MCF cooler.

Anyway, who turned off the IY cooler last week???

I remembered that IYC cooler was turned off well before, not in the last week.

(This report is about "MCO" but could be also relating to other IMC suspensions.)

Although we wanted to aligne the IMC suspensions to see the flush, we could not move the MCO mirror in yaw direction by picomotor even we put about -2000 steps  in total.
According to Takana-kun, he had moved the mirror in yaw by about 100 steps in total when the OpLev beam was almost centered in its QPD.
Today, the beam was not centered. So we moved the picomomter a lot as I wrote. However, we could not see any motion of the mirror when the picomotor was moving. (To be accurate, we just hear the picomotor's sound in the MCF chanmber)
We doubt that MCO was hitting somewhere or picomotor screw was out of range. We will ask more information about IMC suspensions to Takahashi-san.

To check the situation, I touched the picomotor but did not feel its rotating while it was actuated.

Takahashi, Miyo (This report is about yesterday work.)

Before Akutsu-san and Yamamoto-san work for IMC recoverry, we aligned the MCO mirror which is not available yesterday and the MCE mirror.

We found the screw for yaw alignemnt of MCO was reaching to the limit of its movable range as shown in the attached file. This is the reason why we could not move the mirror in yaw direction by picomotor. After Takahashi-san rotated the screw a little by hand, we could rotate the screw by picomotor in remote. So, I aligned the MCO mirror so that the OpLev is centered. While I also aligned the MCE, I did not aligned the MCI because the its OpLev was out of range.

Please note that we should resolve the screw range before closing the chamber.

Takahashi, Miyo

Although we tried to insert a washer between a spacer hitting on edge of the screw to expand the length of the screw, we could not because we could not fix the slider for yaw rotation before inserting the washer for safety. We conculed that we need to make some jig to fix the slider. Takahashi-san will prepare it.
After this work the length got shoter because we had to move the screw by hand to roughly center the oplev light on its QPD.

Additionaly, we checked the length of the screws for other picomotor in MCI and MCO. The length is enough to move except the MCO Yaw.

In April 13th, Yokozawa-san kindly took photos about the magnet position of MCo because Takahashi-san centered coils of MCo suspension as reported as #16410 in April 7.
