A set of the ALS fiber bundles are successfully installed yesterday.
Fujitsu Fsas, Yokogawa, Sugimoto and Izumi
The fibers that were newly pulled include
- 63 m IR duplex fiber
- 58 m IR duplex fiber
- 63 m green duplex fiber
- 58 m green duplex fiber
The below is a summary of the post-installation transmittance measurements. The input power this time was high and was 68 mW due to some unintentional alignment change on the PSL setup. The table also lists the ratio of the core transmittance before and after the installation. They all seem as healthy as before.
Measured output power | Core transmittance* |

CCH-948-63 A (63 m duplex fiber, A) | 27 mW (40%) | 66% | 110% |
CCH-948-63 B (63 m duplex fiber, B) | 22 mW (32%) | 54% | 105% |
CCH-948-58 A (58 m duplex fiber, A) | 24 mW (35%) | 59% | 87% |
CCH-948-58 B (58 m duplex fiber, B) | 25 mW (37%) | 61% | 90% |

* core transmittance = (measured output power) / (incident power) / (coupling efficiency). The coupliing efficiency was assumed to be 60%.
** ratio = (core transmittance at post-installation) / (core transmittance at pre-installation)
