(For taking care of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) on the beam profile measurement, I guess the gain should be fixed to 1 (or 0 dB), while the exposure time should be properly set to improve the SNR, depending on the profissional sense of the experimentalist (in short, needs to consider in-situ wise).
