Inspection of locating wire inner clamps

With Hirata-san

See pictures in album PR2 Remedying Work.

We opened the chamber and inspected the locating wire inner clamps.

  • In both of them we saw gaps.
  • The clamps at the +Y side are numbered #4 and have a larger gap. See this picture.
  • The clamps at the -Y side are numbered #3. See this other picture.

Before locking the BF to the security structure and the whole payload, we inspected the position of the magnet standoffs in the coil body cavities:

  • H1, H2 and H3 seem a bit towards the right of their cavities.
  • H4 looks roughly at the centre.
  • See pictures in the album.

The goal was to measure the gaps between the inner wire locating clamps. In order to do it we followed these steps:

  • Removed H2 and H3 OSEM flags.
  • Disconnected the cables from such OSEMs.
  • Removed the side panels of the IRM.

Then we were able to measure the gaps (see this notebook page for details):

  • +Y, -X, bottom: 220 µm close to the wire, but the gap is smaller exactly where the wire is.
  • +Y, -X, top: 220 µm close to the wire, but the gap is smaller exactly where the wire is.
  • -Y, -X, bottom: 80 µm close to the wire, but the gap is smaller exactly where the wire is.
  • -Y, -X, top: 80 µm close to the wire, but the gap is smaller exactly where the wire is.
  • +Y, +X, bottom: (50, 60) µm
  • +Y, +X, top: (90, 100) µm
  • -Y, +X, bottom: (40, 50) µm
  • -Y, +X, top: (50, 60) µm.
