Top filter fishing rod polarity change.

With Hirata-san, Yano-san and Ikeda-san.

See pictures in SRM Remedying Work album.

We tried changing the polarity of the motor by exchanging pins 1 and 6. However, the motor doesn't seem to be working at all. We tried different channels in the driver and also going back to the original pin assignment, however, but nothong worked. At the end of the day we measured the resistance between coil terminals and found an open circuit between pins 2 and 7. Tomorrow we will check the pins in the in-vacuum connector.

We inspected  the connector, at the motor side, of the in-vacuum cable going from the feedthrough to the stepper motor. We found that the wire connected to pin 2 was broken. After  reattaching  wire to the pin the motor worked well. Then we exchanged the pins 1 and 6 to get the correct polarity.

Additionally, using a spare stepper motor, we  checked the health of some of the unused channels of the motor driver used in SRM GAS Filters:

  • Channel 3: works,
  • Channel 4: doesn't work,
  • Channle 5: works.

Channels 0,1 and 2 are used and are known to work. The channel assignment for F0 fishing rod changed from 3 to 2:

  • Channel 0: BF
  • Channel 1: F1
  • Channel 2: F0.

Ikeda-san's script already takes into account the channel change for F0, but Shoda-san's medm screen still had to be modified accordingly.
